About Abigail
I am an aspiring 17-year-old author with a bright view of the future. I would love to major in Children’s Literature (focusing in on YA fiction) and minor in Advertising (focusing on writing copy). For inspiration, I look to the behavior of the world around me, finding themes in people’s actions and using them to help develop characters in my story. My favorite aspect of writing is characterization, because I believe that emotions are universal, and because no one really questions why someone acts the way he or she does, I have the opportunity to show that. I hope that my writing will one day be able to act as an example for those with little faith in the optimistic. I want to show people that no matter what tragedies occur, there is always a little spark of hope that people often overlook.
Accomplishments: I won the Annual Spring Writing contest from “From a Writer’s POV” magazine, which can be viewed here: http://www.fromawriterspovmagazine.com/writingcontestwinner.htm, and was featured in their May Edition of the Youth Corner. I also received a Young Authors award in the fifth grade, and also had a poem from the fourth grade published in the 2006 Edition of Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans.
This blog is just one small step into the giant door of getting published someday. I am so blessed to be given the resources I have, including my ‘fairy godmother’ group from facebook – you all know who you are.
I would love to get to know people and talk about what writing-obsessed people talk about. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!
