Haiku

Here are two haiku (Japanese poems consisting of 3 lines in syllables of 5,7,5) I created today for my Japanese class. The translation is directly beside each line. The second is dedicated to the current crisis in Japan.

ani ni mori /Rain in the forest

akarui tsuki / Bright moon

suzukesa ya / Oh what calmness!

***

furue suchi / Trembling land

osoreshii hito / Fearful people

inorimashyou / Let’s pray

[work is original and the sole property of Abigail Krocker]
